Most of us have favorite authors and if we’re lucky, they have a huge backlist so we can spend a lot of time soaking up their words.
But what happens when their words run out and you’re left waiting not-so-patiently for their next project? Some people actually have the fortitude to hold a book in reserve for when they’re having an especially awful day. I asked Twitter to tell me who had authors like that and what their favorite book from that author was – recommendations below. (And, as always, if you want to peruse past recommendation lists, they’re all collected in one place.) Affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- L. Marie Adeline, S.E.C.R.E.T. – It’s a series with cliffhangers and you do have to read all 3 books to get the resolution but I devoured them all and went back for more (Per Rosanna Leo)
- Melissa Blue, DOWN TO ASH – I really love her DirtySexyGeeks series in general, but this one is really special (Per me)
- Alice Clayton, NUTS – I keep Alice Clayton’s rom-coms around for when I forget how to laugh (Per Suzanne)
- Kresley Cole, WICKED DEEDS ON A WINTER’S NIGHT – has a place on the nightstand (Per Laura Hunsaker)
- Tessa Dare, ROMANCING THE DUKE – (Per Karla Kratovil)
- Tessa Dare, A WEEK TO BE WICKED – (Per Lisa Lin)
- Laura Florand, THE CHOCOLATE KISS and THE CHOCOLATE TOUCH – (Per Christine Maria Rose)
- Shira Glassman, KNIT ONE, GIRL TWO – am saving that for rereading (Per Laura @labgeek90)
- Cecelia Grant, A LADY AWAKENED – (Per Tamsen Parker)
- Alexis Hall, GLITTERLAND and WAITING FOR THE FLOOD (Per Ellie Reads)
- Beverly Jenkins, DESTINY’S EMBRACE and INDIGO – because her books always have an undercurrent of hope (Per Suzanne)
- Sarah Mayberry, THE OTHER SIDE OF US and HER BEST WORST MISTAKE – both have outstanding, prickly heroines – and if those are your jam, I have a whole other list of recommendations for those! (Per me)
- Monica McCarty, HIGHLAND WARRIOR – another nightstand book (Per Laura Hunsaker)
- Nora Roberts, CHESAPEAKE BAY SAGA – like reading, wrapped in a soft blanket on a rainy day. (Per KT Gilbert)
- Kit Rocha, BEYOND PAIN – It hits every trope I love: “difficult” fighter heroine, wounded hero. (Per Carrie Lomax)
- Kit Rocha, BEYOND JEALOUSY and BEYOND INNOCENCE – (Per Roxling) – basically it appears the entire BEYOND series may end up here…
- Nalini Singh, ARCHANGEL’S BLADE – when I need a cry. Dmitri is pretty much it for me. “I will love you even when I am dust on the wind.” Gets me every time. (Per KT Gilbert)
- Chace Verity, TEAM PHISON – my favorite “I need something soft and sweet” read (Per Laura @labgeek90)
I would definitely put the whole Beyond Series by Kit Rocha, and Her Best Worst Mistake as ones I would like to find time to reread!
